OPTION 1 - IT Support Contract

Our support and maintenance packages are perfect for organisations with anything from 1 to 300 staff. As a client you become a member of our company and we will guide you forward in every aspect of your IT and e-business workings. We will inform you of new technologies as and when they arrive.

We can offer support at a fixed annual cost which can be broken down into manageable monthly payments. Where we have not supplied your IT infrastructure it will be necessary to conduct an audit of your equipment to give pricing on this.

We understand that different companies have different needs and our support package can be tailored to fit your exact requirements.

With our range of software tools and monitoring options we are alerted to potential problems and can often resolve them before they can impact on your business. Our secure remote access solution means we can resolve most issues within a few minutes. Should the issue require an on-site visit this will be carried out well within whatever response time we have agreed with you.

OPTION 2 - Adhoc IT Support

We can offer support on an ad-hoc basis. Our standard charge is £55.00 ex VAT per hour which includes the callout. There may be travel charge for non-local work. Please contact us for more details.

By purchasing a block of hours in advance through our flexible payment model you can make substantial savings.
If you require more than 20 hours please contact us and we will be happy to quote for the package you need.

PAT Testing

The Health and Safety at Work Act (1984) as well as many E.C Directives relating to workplace safety, put all the onus on the employer to ensure that a safe working environmen is created and maintained, including ensuring any tools or equipment supplied are safe and in good working order.

Section 4 (2) of the Electricity at Work Regulation (1989) focuses on this "Duty of Care" in relation to any machinery connected to the electricity supply via a removable plug.

To assist companies to comply with this legislation, the electrical industry has developed a range to tests to an industry standard specification., ensuring that all portable appliances are checked by a trained engineer to ensure they comply with the pre-defined standard, and are safe for the purpose they are designed for.

Each appliance is comprehensively tested by a fully trained GTS engineer, who will certify that the appliance conforms to the current required specification, and who will then produce a detailed report confirming the status of each appliance.

We can carry out PAT Testing on any Portable Appliance including, Computers, Printers, Shredders, Photocopiers and all other office electrical appliances.

All our technicians are fully trained in the IEE Wiring Regulations and our system ensures that you are provided with all the documentation and certification that your company requires, to demonstrate to any legislative body that all obligations as an employer have been fulfilled .

Internet Access ......... Internet access comes in many forms, we are able to offer various solutions to meet clients needs. These include PSTN Dial Up, ISDN Dialup & Broadband. With the ISDN & Broadband services it is possible to install a router to allow internet access to all computer uses within your establishment. Access can also be controlled via the router to avoid unauthorised access.

PC, Fax and Printer Repairs ...... We have a well furnished workshop within its Altens premises.

If a machine is unable to be repaired on site by one of the Field Service Engineers then the repair will be made at the workshop.

The well qualified trained workshop team, are able to repair most makes of PC's, printers, fax machines, audio machines and shredders. All repairs are conducted under a very rigid quality system that complies with ISO 9002 standards, and realising the importance of each piece of equipment to their clients, the turnaround time for repairs is always kept to a minimum.

Loan machinery is also available, in the unlikely event that we do not have the required spare part in our £60,000 stock of spare parts. All parts used carry full warranty, and are installed in compliance with manufacturers guidelines. Our service department repairs all makes of faxes, offering proactive as well as reactive maintenance. Our large stock of parts enables repairs to be performed without delay.

The company currently has 4 fully trained fax service engineers, affecting repairs both on site and in our workshop premises. Loan machines are available if immediate repair is not possible.

Our Data Recovery Centre offers a service second to none.

A complete service for retrieval of important data, subject to deletion, hardware failure or sabotage. Media's retrievable include Hard drives, Floppy drives, Zip disks, CD-RW and various tape storage device products, DAT, etc.

We can retrieve your data within a 24 hour time window, assisting in minimal downtime. Data can be retrieved from media that is damaged, not working at all, intentional or accidental deletion, and even data that has been formatted. In fact, data retrieval can be performed by our experts in most circumstances. We offer a "no fix, no fee" service, and guarantee you an immediate assessment of your data source within 4 working hours of receiving your media. In most cases, successful retrievals are performed within 12 hours, and your media returned to you within 24 hours. If you are concerned about data leaving your site, an engineer can come on site to complete the work for a premium charge, to perform your recovery.

This is probably one of the most cost effective services available in the U.K.

Once your important data has been retrieved, it will then be transported to you on your chosen media, either CD ROM, new drive, or tape backup. In absolute urgent cases, your data can be e-mailed to you. This is only recommended for small amounts of data, due to transfer speeds. ISDN data transfer is also available.

Forensic Services

Increasingly, companies are giving employees access to the internet and e-mail services. On one hand this ensures that employees have greater access to the appropriate information and tools in order to work more effectively, while on the other hand it is very much open to abuse. Recent court cases and changes in legislation now put the onus on the employer to ensure that internet or e-mail misuse is not taking place within their company. The term Cyber-liability has been coined and relates to many types of legal liability arising from business use of the internet and e-mail.

Grampian Technical Services have established their own division dealing exclusively with this area of IT. Providing not just a consultancy service but also offering the full scope of IT security services, from giving advice on developing procedures and policies to carrying out comprehensive security checks on PC's and servers. The Computer Security Division have all the tools and systems that can be implemented to ensure the client company is watertight against any potential litigation that may occur, as a result of internet or e-mail misuse.

Rigorous security checks can be carried out discretely on clients machines to identify any areas of concern, and the identity of any users who are downloading material that may be considered obscene or in contravention of company policy. Reports on internet usage and sites visited can be supplied to management allowing them the necessary evidence to take appropriate action. These checks can also be carried out to monitor hard drive usage to detect any illicit material that may be introduced from other sources i.e. from floppy disk. In conjunction with our Data Recovery Service, a full forensic service can be provided to identify any material that has been disguised, hidden or even deleted.

This service is provided by fully trained, discreet engineers who are bound by the Official Secrets Act, having been vetted by the most thorough procedures in the UK. As you would expect from an organisation that lists among its clients base, major law enforcement agencies, legal firms, organisations holding medical records and government bodies, it has a reputation for discretion, integrity and is scrupulous in dealing with its clients sensitive information.
